CHICAGO, Feb. 18, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Dr. Ronna Fisher, Au.D., has been named Winner of the 13th Audiology Service Award, conferred by the Illinois Department of Human Services. Dr. Fisher has been so recognized because of her lifetime contributions to the field of audiology, as well as the quality and consistency of her professional care for the hearing-impaired. She was originally inspired to dedicate herself to audiology and helping the hearing-impaired as a result of her father's hearing problems, and gradually diminishing quality of life.

Dr. Fisher founded and still provides care for the hearing-impaired at the Hearing Health Center (HHC), which has four Illinois locations, including downtown Chicago. The HHC offers complete hearing diagnostics and treatment, as well as listening and communication enhancement strategies to those patients in need of them.

An audiology practitioner for over 30 years, Dr. Fisher earned a Master of Science degree in Audiology from the University of Pittsburgh, and by 1984 had established the HHC in downtown Chicago. She also founded the Fisher Foundation for Hearing Health Care to make ear care available to those in need, regardless of their ability to pay.

She has recently earned a Doctor of Audiology degree from the Pennsylvania College of Optometry, and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Audiology, as well as being an active member of the Academy of Dispensing Audiologists, the American Tinnitus Association, and the Illinois Academy of Audiology. Dr. Fisher has also earned a Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech-Language and Hearing Association.

About the Hearing Health Center

HHC has also won numerous service awards, including 'Best Hearing Healthcare Professionals'.
