    The Academy of Doctors of Audiology (ADA) announces that Liz Tusler and Rachel Magann Faivre representing Northern Illinois University secured first place honors and a $5,000 cash grant during the final round of the inaugural ADA Student Business Plan Competition, held November 9th in Bonita Springs, Florida.

    Brian Urban, Au.D. and Kim Cavitt, Au.D. will be hosting a live webinar on Audiology Online entitled, "Putting Audiology in its Place- Achieving Professional Autonomy as a Doctoring Profession." The webinar will take place Wednesday, September 11, 2013.

    A Community Parnership initiated by Linda S. Remensnyder, Au.D., Hearing Loop Advocate, and supplemented by Carly Girard, Au.D., Ronna Fisher, Au.D., and Paul Pessis, Au.D., provided a matching gift to assist with hearing loop installation costs at the five theatres under renovation at Renaissance Place Cinema in Highland Park, IL.

    Each of the audiologists' waiting rooms are all looped to confirm loop audibility requirements. A title card acknowledging their community support is displayed on the screen before every performance.,0,4438064.story

    On Wednesday, August 7, 2013 at 11:00am, Robin Stoner, Au.D. and Amy Winston, Au.D., will be hosting a webinar entitled, "ABR: An Illustration of Auditory Dysfunction Through Clinical Cases, Presented in Partnership with Rush University."

    The session presents several cases seen in an urban medical center clinic that depict the effects of abnormalities along the auditory pathway on the ABR waveform. It examines how outer, middle, and inner ear dysfunction; auditory neuropathy; and brainstem dysfunction influence the characteristics of the ABR and other auditory tests.

    On Thursday, August 8, 2013 at 11:00am, Diane Meyer, Ph.D. will be hosting a webinar entitled, "From There to Hear, from Hear to There: EHDI Programs Everywhere!, Presented in Partnership with Rush University."

    The session will focus on Early Hearing Detection and Intervention (EHDI) programs that been in existence officially for over 13 years. After providing a brief background on EHDI and its traditional goals, this presentation will include contemporary topics such as cumulative EHDI data, changes in procedures and perspectives, the NICHQ initiatives for improved outcomes, and the EHDI-PALS resources.
