August 2023 Legislative Update

Governor JB Pritzker has signed three new laws that greatly affect the practice of Audiology in Illinois. 
  • HB2450 requires that audiologists obtain one hour of continuing education in cultural competency - learn more about this requirement by visiting our IL Licensing page
  • HB2443 mandates that every health insurer, offering a health plan in the State of Illinois MUST offer an option that includes a hearing aid benefit. This bill will replace HB4516 and HB3503 and create a universal coverage mandate for all Illinois residents.
  • SB1721, which created significant changes to the Hearing Instrument Consumer Protection Act.

 The Illinois Academy of Audiology and the Illinois Hearing Society are co-hosting a member only webinar to review the changes of SB1721 on Wednesday, October 11 at 7PM CST.  This webinar offers one and a half hours of continuing education credit.
